Block Paved Driveways in Bolton and the North West

Block paving gives you a hard-wearing driveway that can be lifted and relaid in sections if you ever need access underneath. We set the falls, install edge restraints and lay to the pattern you choose, then compact and joint the blocks. There is a wide choice of block size, colour and laying pattern, and we bring samples to the quote visit so you can see them against the house.

Block paving is one of the most popular choices for a reason: it is cost-effective, low maintenance and can be laid in a wide range of patterns, colours and finishes to suit your property. If a block is ever stained or damaged, it can be lifted and replaced without disturbing the rest of the drive.

What’s included

  • Excavation and a compacted sub-base
  • Edge restraints haunched in concrete
  • Blocks laid to your chosen pattern and colour
  • Whacked down and kiln-dried sand jointed

THB Contractors block paved driveways work in the North West

Why us

Why choose THB Contractors

With over 20 years of experience serving Bolton, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire, we are a first choice for driveways and surfacing across the region. You are trusting someone to dig up the front of your property, or to take a car park out of use for a few days, so it is worth knowing how we work before you do. We keep it simple: a proper look before we price, the base built for the ground we actually find, and the same team on the job from the first visit to the last sweep-up.

  • Over 20 years’ experience

Two decades laying driveways, patios and commercial surfaces across the North West, with a reputation built on quality workmanship and reliable, tidy jobs.

  • A written, itemised quote

You get the price in writing after a site visit, so there are no surprises once the job starts.

  • The base done properly

Most surfaces fail from underneath. We build the base for the ground we find, not a one-size dig-out.

  • The same people throughout

You deal with the same team from the quote to the day the job finishes.

  • Domestic and commercial

From a single driveway to a full car park, priced and planned the same careful way.

The price

What affects the price

Every job is quoted after a free site visit, so the price fits the work in front of us rather than a guess off a description. The main things that move the figure:

  • The area and the laying pattern (some create more cuts and waste)
  • The block chosen and any contrasting borders
  • How much excavation and disposal the ground needs
  • Access to the site for materials and machinery

Common questions

Can a block driveway be repaired later?

Yes. Individual blocks can be lifted and relaid, so a driveway can be opened up for access and put back without a visible patch.

Will weeds grow through the joints?

A properly compacted base and kiln-dried jointing sand keep weeds down. It is worth re-sanding the joints every few years to keep them tight.

How long does a block paved driveway take?

Most domestic block driveways take a few days depending on the area, the ground and the weather. You get a realistic duration with the quote.

Can I have a pattern or border?

Yes. Herringbone, stretcher bond and contrasting borders are all options — we go through the block, colour and laying pattern at the visit.

Do you offer a free quote?

Yes. We come out, measure up and check the ground, then send a free written, itemised quote with no obligation.
